Cuyahoga County has announced a tool that allows residents to look up the 2018 proposed market value of their homes.
According to the website, the calculator is just an estimate and the actual property tax may actually be more or less than what is displayed. The calculator was put online by the Cuyahoga County Fiscal Office to give residents an "idea of the difference in taxes from the current appraised value to the new appraised value of your home."
You can find the online calculator here.
This comes following a Sept. 14 deadline extension for residents to dispute property reappraisals they received.
Last month, the county drew harsh criticism from residents after property value reassessments were sent out — with some properties value increasing nearly 200 percent. This caused a concern from residents over the cost of future tax bills and discussion about people possibly losing their homes since they couldn't afford the future taxes.
