Cuyahoga County sees major surge in housing market

CLEVELAND — New data shows what a surge in the housing market in Northeast Ohio means for both buyers and sellers.

In June, the average sale-to-list price hit 100% in Cuyahoga County, meaning the majority of homes are selling at or above list price, according to Seth Task of the Ohio Realtors Association.

It’s the first time Task said he can remember that kind of surge happening in the area.

“It’s mindboggling,” Task said.

He also said the thing driving the sale-to-list prices is inventory. Northeast Ohio is currently seeing the smallest number of homes for sale in decades.

Cuyahoga County had about 4,000 homes listed for sale in June, compared to more than 9,000 that were listed in June 2015.
