New charges have been filed against the driver who is accused of hitting a 9-year-old girl with her car and fleeing the scene.

According to court documents, 23-year-old Lacynthia Tidmore, has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident, in connection to a hit-skip crash that claimed the life of 9-year-old De'Zyre Mays.

The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 9 near Babbitt Road and East 237th Street in Euclid.

Witnesses said the girl was running to catch the school bus when she was struck by Tidmore. Tidmore fled the scene but later turned herself into police. She was originally charged with felony hit-skip.

The sidewalk in the area was closed at the time while a construction crew was working in the area. It's unclear if that's why the girl was in the street.

The 9-year-old died from her injuries on Nov. 21.

Tidmore is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 18.
