NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — A former North Olmsted funeral parlor owner is facing felony charges for allegedly defrauding customers out of more than $100,000 over a five-year period.

According to North Olmsted police, Mark Kacirek, of Kacirek Funeral Homes, was indicted Tuesday for aggravated theft and receiving stolen property—both fourth-degree felonies.

Authorities said that between 2014 and the present, 15 individuals paid Kacirek in advance for a pre-need funeral and burial arrangements.

During that time, Kacirek allegedly pocketed more than $100,000. Additionally, police said that Kacirek had been working on an expired funeral and embalming license.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 4.
