OLMSTED TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Several homes in the area of Homestead Drive in Olmsted Township were evacuated as a precaution after police said a man barricaded himself and pointed a gun at his brother inside a home Thursday morning, according to a release from Olmsted Township police.
Just before 2:30 a.m., police responded to the 8500 block of Homestead Drive in reference to a 25-year-old man who had pointed a gun at his 30-year-old brother.
Dispatch was told the 30-year-old brother had barricaded himself inside the bathroom of the home, but told police his father was still asleep inside the home.
Police were told there were several other firearms inside the residence at the time. Police said at some point the 30-year-old brother and his father were able to evacuate the home unharmed.
After several failed attempts to make contact with the 25-year-old man, the Southwest Enforcement Bureau was called to the scene.
Eventually, the man was surrendered to police peacefully. The man, who was not injured, was transported to a nearby hosptial for evaluation, authorities said.
According to police, charges are pending.
