CLEVELAND — Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday for the trial of 31-year-old Joseph McAlpin, who is charged in the deaths of Trina and Michael Kuznik.
McAlpin faces several charges, including aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping, according to court records.
The couple and their dog were found shot to death at their car dealership, Mr. Cars Inc., on East 185th Street in April 2017.
According to court documents, McAlpin's DNA was found on evidence at the crime scene.
Police said the couple’s son discovered their bodies after he had trouble reaching them.
Just weeks before their death, Trina Kuznik talked to 5 On Your Side Investigators. As part of a report about Cleveland’s response times, she told us how Cleveland officers had repeatedly failed to answer her calls for help about break-ins at her business.
When we asked if she would call police again, Kuznik foreshadowed her death. She said, “Probably not. What would be the point? Unless someone's shooting at me. Maybe then.”
One of the men, Andrew Keener, who was charged for his involvement in the couple's death, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and grand theft in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas in February. Keener is scheduled to be sentenced on April 29.
