Lakewood middle school student arrested for bringing two pellet guns to school

A student at Harding Middle School in Lakewood was arrested on Wednesday for bringing two pellet guns inside the school.

Police have charged the student with possession of dangerous toys and inducing panic.

Another student who witnessed the other student bring in the pellet guns notified school officials.

Police searched the student's backpack where they found the two pellet guns. The student told police he didn't know the guns were in his backpack, according to the police report.

Principal Joe Niemantsverdriet responded to the incident via email to parents.
I want to commend the student who spoke up and helped to keep our school community safe.
Students and staff were not injured during the incident.
 
The student will remain in custody as police continue an ongoing investigation.
