LAKEWOOD, Ohio — Lakewood police are issuing a reminder to be aware of your surroundings.

“It’s definitely something we don’t see every day,” said Lt. Frank Eschweiler.

The warning comes after a car was stolen out of a Lakewood driveway in broad daylight.

The theft was captured on a doorbell camera. Police are searching for a silver 2013 Audi Q7 and a man.

Police said a 48-year-old woman had just gotten home from the grocery store last Tuesday after 11 a.m.

“She was unloading groceries, taking them into the house. The suspect came down the driveway, jumped into the car, and started it before she knew what happened,” said Eschweiler.

The victim’s husband said by phone they had both sets of keys.

Police think a valet key in the glove box may have been used.

A Lakewood police officer spotted the Audi.

A police pursuit started but was quickly called off because of safety concerns.

Police believe the woman may have been targeted for the car.

Officers are still looking for the car and suspect.
