The man accused of hitting and killing a woman on an electric scooter appeared in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Monday morning.
Scott McHugh, 19, was speeding down E. 9th street Saturday night when he allegedly hit Jenasia Summers, 21, of Cleveland, while she was riding on an electric scooter.
He is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
McHugh told officers at the scene that he was in rehab and was sober for 50 days. He admitted to police that he snorted heroin with a friend in a grocery store parking lot prior to crashing into the scooter. He didn't remember anything between snorting the drug and waking up in an ambulance.
