BEDFORD, Ohio — A Bedford man has been cited for allegedly driving on a sidewalk past a stopped school bus at a high rate of speed as a child was stepping out of the vehicle Wednesday.
The 39-year-old man has been charged with reckless operation, according to Bedford police.
Cameras inside the bus caught the incident on tape.
In the video you can see a small child step out of the bus and start walking down a driveway as a car comes speeding into view. Another angle shows the car swerve across the oncoming lane of traffic, over the curb and onto a residential sidewalk, passing just feet from the child.
The quick-thinking bus driver yelled at the girl to get back in the bus and she stepped inside moments before the car sped past.
