Maple Heights police investigating after 17-year-old shot twice in chest

MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio — A 17-year-old was shot in the chest in Maple Heights on Thursday evening, according to the Maple Heights Police Department.

Around 5:20 p.m., officers received a call about a male being shot in the chest in the area of Warrensville Center Road and Libby Road.

A 17-year-old boy was transported to a nearby hospital after being shot twice in the chest. He remains in critical but stable condition, police said.

The teen told authorities he was walking on Warrensville Center Road when he saw two males, believed to be in their late teens, approaching him. Words were exchanged and one of the males pulled a gun from his pocket and shot the teen twice in the chest, according to police.

Police did not offer a detailed description of the males and said they do not have any suspects at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
