Meteorologist Janessa Webb to run CLE marathon

Posted

Newsnet 5's own, meteorologist Janessa Webb, is on her mark and getting set to go in Sunday's Cleveland Marathon, where an expected 20,000 or more will run the race noted for endurance.

Webb said she has been at it since February, at times the training has been grueling and broken her down into tears. But she has continued getting up early and training six days a week in weather fair and foul.

This will be her second marathon. Her first was in her home state of Alaska, where temperatures were a bit brisker.

Newsnet 5's Terrence Lee set set out with Webb for her training routine, but 15 minutes of ground run convinced him he had better options.

As for Webb, the marathon will be an unrelenting 26.2 miles. Even shorter distances during training have commanded her resolve. But Webb says the extra miles won't stop her. She plans to keep her feet on the ground and her eyes on the prize, which for her is going the distance.

"I'm going to finish. If I'm crawling, I will finish," Webb said.
