SOLON, Ohio — Mustard Seed Market and Cafe in Solon will close its doors at the end of the month, according to an Instagram post from the popular grocery store.

The store, located on Kruse Drive, will officially close on Oct. 30., and will have new stores hours until its closure, Mustard Seed Market and Cafe said.

Starting Thursday, the grocery store will open at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. daily, changing from its usual 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. hours.

According to Mustard Seed Market and Cafe’s CEO CEO, Gabe Nabors, the store is closing due to the increased competition from other stores and online shopping.

"When my family opened the Solon store, we had high expectations. It was the largest natural foods grocery store east of the Mississippi, and the natural foods industry was having double-digit growth," Nabors said. “Unfortunately, the store did not develop as we had hoped and today with the increased competition both in brick and mortar stores as well as online, our time has come."

While the Solon location is set to close its doors, the locations in Akron will remain in business, Nabors assured.

As the Solon Mustard Seed Market and Cafe prepares to close its doors for good, it is offering an inventory reduction sale that will run until the store’s final day in business.
