CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio — The Cuyahoga County Department of Consumer Affairs is warning residents about a new scam.

According to the county, there is a text scam happening in the area that is falsely notifying residents that there is an error in their unemployment claim.

The county said that if you click on the link, it will take you to a fake website where it asks you to put in your Social Security and PIN.

The website looks similar to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services webpage. After people enter their personal information, the fake site redirects them to the actual state unemployment page.

If you receive a fraudulent unemployment notice, contact ODJFS at unemploymenthelp.ohio.gov or by calling 833-658-0394.
