A police chase ends in a crash at the corner of Clague and Detroit Roads.

The chase started at Stonegate Circle after several vehicles were broken into throughout the neighborhood.

At 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, a homeowner on Stonegate Circle called the police to report someone was stealing items from his wife's vehicle. The caller told police the license number of the SUV that he saw the suspects enter.

When police received the call, they learned a Lexus SUV was reported stolen from an Avon Lake resident on May 30.

Police responded to Stonegate Circle when they saw the stolen Lexus SUV traveling north on State Route 83. Officers attempted to stop the Lexus but the driver continued to drive away from officers.

While officers were pursuing the driver of the Lexus, officers received another call from a resident at Stonegate Circle reporting a handgun and several loaded magazines had been stolen from his vehicle.

Police continued to pursue the Lexus going eastbound on Center Ridge Road through Westlake.

The vehicle passed into Rocky River and then turned around to go west of Clague Road. The operator of the vehicle lost control at Unity Spiritual Center Westlake.

The Lexus was brought to a stop when the Ohio State Highway Patrol unit performed a PIT maneuver.

Four of the five occupants inside the vehicle were taken into police custody. Those involved were determined to be juevniles and were later transported to the Lorain County Detention Home.

The incident is still under investigation.
