A North Olmsted business is vowing to rebuild.
Weather from overnight could be to blame for the damage to the Pinball Shoppe just off Lorain Road, but the owners say they’ll be back.
The building is located at 27693 Butternut Ridge Road.
The roof collapsed late Wednesday or early Thursday, and the bricks on the façade fell off to the sidewalk and a nearby car below.
Thankfully, there were no injuries.
Melissa Rossi, co-owner, told News 5 they’ll be back.
“We’ve actually been in business for 44 years,” said Rossi. “We actually started out of my dad’s garage. We originally were in Cleveland. Then, we had a store in Westlake, and then we moved to North Olmsted in 1995. We love it here; it’s been our home!”
The damage exposed the heart of what they do at the Pinball Shoppe.
“What we do is we specialize in sales of pinball machines, slot machines, pretty much anything for a home arcade,” said Rossi.
Classics, games so many people grew up on and loved – and still do!
It is also stuff that’s hard to find. In some cases, priceless.
“Nobody’s gotten a cause yet; we haven’t been able to get into the building,” said Rossi. “We don’t know the extent of the damage yet.”
They also do repair work, which they’ll now need themselves.
But, this mom-and-pop shop is Northeast Ohio strong.
Rossi says they own the building and the land, and it’s not game over yet for them.
“We’re not going anywhere,” she smiled. “This is a small bump in the road. We might have to have a temporary spot for a little bit, but we want to let our community and customers know that we’re not throwing the towel in. “We’ll be back and rebuilding as soon as possible.”
Since this is a busy intersection and there is a risk of a complete collapse, Butternut and Porter roads are closed.
