Surveillance video helped police track down a suspect wanted in a deadly gas station shooting Monday, police said.
It started when police found a 39-year-old man dead with a gunshot wound to the head at around 2:53 a.m. in a parking lot of a South Collinwood gas station in the 14000 block of St. Clair Avenue.
Officers received information about a suspected vehicle and a person involved in the deadly shooting.
Within 10 minutes, the Ohio State Highway Patrol spotted a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle allegedly involved in the shooting. Troopers pulled the vehicle over and started arresting a 29-year-old man for an OVI when he fled from troopers on foot.
After a short foot pursuit, he arrested and taken into custody. During his arrest, police found a pistol and what appeared to be suspected narcotics inside the car.
News 5 is not naming the man until formal charges have been filed.
The shooting remains under investigation.
