SOLON, Ohio — Solon police arrested a man following a pursuit on U.S Route 422 Saturday, according to the Solon Police Department.
Police attempted to stop a vehicle traveling eastbound on US 422. When the driver of the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit began, police said.
The vehicle fled at a high speed and exited the highway at state Route 306 in Bainbridge. The vehicle immediately got back on US 422, now traveling west, according to police.
Police deployed stop sticks between the Liberty Road overpass and state Route 91 overpass. The vehicle struck them, causing the car to veer off into the grassy median, police said.
The vehicle traveled down the grass embankment into the northbound lanes of SR 91. The vehicle traveled southbound in the northbound lanes and escaped police pursuit.
During the pursuit, police received a tip that there may have been a 9-month-old baby in the car.
The vehicle involved was found abandoned on Solon Road and a man who had a 9-month-old child with him was found nearby and taken into custody.
Police are still trying to determine who was driving the vehicle.
The incident is currently under investigation.
