WESTLAKE, Ohio — One of the most unique and amazing pet shows is coming back to the Cleveland area later this month.

Forget dog, cat or pony shows. This show features four-legged creatures of the palm-sized variety.

The 2019 Midwest Gerbil Show will bring gerbil owners from all over the country to a one-day event at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 1100 Crocker Road, Westlake, on Oct. 26.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and entry costs $5.

Judges will rate the gerbil contestants on color and temperament, similar to how dog and cat shows are judged.

Gerbils will also participate in various competitions such as a toilet paper chewing and ball races.

Two gerbils will be awarded top honor rosettes for Best in Show and Best Opposite Sex.

The event is sponsored by The American Gerbil Society, "a non-profit organization providing support and education to breeders, caregivers and gerbil enthusiasts."
