Veterans and family members get free train rides aboard Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad on Nov. 11

VALLEY VIEW, Ohio — The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is providing a complimentary train ride to veterans and their family members on Nov. 11.

Veterans, active military and first responders and up to three family members are invited to take a two-hour complimentary train ride through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

CVSR will host over 1,000 veterans and their families on the train cars, which are expected to be filled to capacity.

Veterans and their families can choose to depart from the Akron Rockside Station, 27 Ridge Street at 10 a.m. or from Rockside Station, 7900 Old Rockside Road at 10:15 a.m.

A Color Guard demonstration will be held at 9:45 a.m. at Akron Northside Station and 10 a.m. at the Rockside Station.

Veterans can redeem a maximum of four tickets. Veterans will be served water and a sweet treat upon boarding the train.

The public is encouraged to show support of veterans at Peninsula Station, 1630 Mill Street, as the train passes at 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
