A police officer is lucky to be alive after he was nearly struck by a pickup truck while working on U.S. Route 422 in Solon.
The Solon Police Department released dash and body camera footage of the scene on Friday. Authorities said the incident happened several weeks ago when the roads were icy but clear of snow.
Solon police made the following statement on Facebook:
Did you ever wonder why police may seem so geared up while working the road? Here's a good example of why from a couple weeks back. Traffic stops, assisting disabled vehicles, car crashes..... the road can be a dangerous place. We may seem a bit overbearing at times when we give people orders...."stay in your car, get out of your car, move your car." It is all in the name of safety... and time matters.
Thankfully no one was hurt.
