GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — A 24-year-old woman who was found guilty of murdering a Garfield Heights man she met on a dating site in late 2018 was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday.
Last month, a jury found Shakira Graham guilty of murder, felonious assault, grand theft and receiving stolen property. The jury found her not guilty of two counts of aggravated murder.

Graham met the victim, 27-year-old Meshach Cornwall, on a dating website, then stayed over at Cornwall’s Garfield Heights home on Dec. 15, 2018.

Two days later, Graham returned to Cornwall’s home, shot and killed him, then stole various items from his residence.
At the time of the murder, authorities responded to the home in the 12000 block of Darlington Avenue after a woman called and said she found her son, Cornwall, unresponsive and covered in blood in her basement. Authorities said they later discovered Cornwall had been shot multiple times. Multiple bullet holes were also found in the basement hallway.
Graham was arrested on Feb. 14, 2019 on Fairmount Boulevard in Shaker Heights.

Graham will be eligible for parole after serving 31 years in prison. She received credit for time served for the year she already has spent in jail.
