While Cleveland police were responding to a shooting that left a home peppered with bullets, a van matching the description of the suspected vehicle returned to the scene, and someone in it fired shots at officers and residents.
Authorities responded to the 7500 block of Decker Avenue in Hough after a woman said her house had been shot at several times.
She told officers on the scene that around 10 p.m., while she was watching her grandchildren in the living room, she heard gunfire, prompting her to take cover on the ground to avoid being hit with bullets.
Police spoke to two men who were standing outside during the time of the shooting. They described a gray van that traveled at a high speed down Decker Avenue when the shots were fired. One of the men said he took cover behind a banister on the porch, while the other man crawled to the rear of the house.
Several vehicles parked in front of the residence were hit with bullets.
While police were looking at the damage, they noticed the same vehicle matching the description of the gray van return to Decker Avenue. An occupant of the van opened fire at the officers and residents at the scene.
Police reported no injuries or arrests. The incident is under investigation.
