Westlake police are investigating after a 25-year-old woman was found badly beaten early Wednesday morning.

Officers found her around 2:30 a.m. lying on the ground near Canterbury and Center Ridge roads. She was conscious but incoherent and appeared to have life-threatening injuries, police said.

Westlake Fire Department paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment, where she remains in intensive care.

Police said that a preliminary investigation indicates that she was at the Time Warp Bar earlier in the evening. Evidence led to two persons of interest, and a search warrant was executed at a home on Center Ridge Road, where a man was taken into custody for felonious assault.

According to police, it appears that the woman who was beaten and the man in custody are in a relationship.

Police said the other individual, who was a person of interest, was interviewed, and officers determined that he was not involved with the crime. That person is cooperating with the investigation.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the attack to contact police at 440-871-3311.
