UPDATE — This checkpoint has been canceled due to "road conditions from last night's thunderstorms," according to authorities.
There will be an OVI checkpoint on US-322 Saturday night in Chester Townhip, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
OSHP, Geauga County Sheriff’s Office and the Chester Township Police Department will take part in the checkpoint.
The checkpoint will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. on US-322 near mile marker one, authorities said.
The checkpoint is part of an effort to “aggressively combat impaired driver-related injury and fatal crashes,” authorities said. The checkpoint is funded by federal grants to "deter and intercept impaired drivers."
In addition to the checkpoint, there will be extra officers patrolling the area.
