RUSSELL TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Geauga Humane Society's Rescue Village is doing something to help families in need.
The Rescue Village is launching a new pet food pantry program that will be open to the public beginning Friday.
This program will help assist families who have fallen on hard times and are struggling to provide food for their pets.
The animal shelter would like to especially welcome people who have been affected by the government shut down, but no proof of eligibility is required.
Cat and dog food will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to anyone who expresses a need.
Food pick up will be available on Fridays from 10 a.m. until noon.
The shelters wants people to make arrangements to pick up the food by emailing intake@rescuevillage.org or by calling 440-338-4819, extension 13.
