COLUMBUS, Ohio — A bill to rename a portion of State Route 2 in Lake County after fallen Mentor officer Mathew Mazany has passed the Ohio House.
June 24 will mark one year since Mazany was struck and killed during a traffic stop.
The stretch of road where he was hit would be renamed "Patrolman Mathew Mazany Highway."
The bill now heads to the Ohio Senate.
In April, the man who hit Mazany was sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison — the maximum time allowed.
