A driver was life-flighted Tuesday morning after a crash with a semi.
Mentor police said the crash happened at the corner of Lakeshore Boulevard and Wilson Drive around 9:30 a.m.
The driver of what police say was a stolen car out of Parma had to be cut out of the vehicle, according to police.
Sergeant Paul Fiorilli, of the Mentor Police Department, said an officer ran registration on a 2006 Jeep Cherokee heading westbound on Lakeshore Boulevard.
When the registration came up as stolen, the officer initiated a traffic stop after the driver turned down French Boulevard.
When the officer got out of the car, the driver took off heading south on French Boulevard and came out from Shandle Boulevard and struck the bed of a tractor-trailer heading eastbound on Lakeshore Boulevard.
The area between French Boulevard and Links Road is closed as authorities investigate the crash scene.
