KIRTLAND, Ohio — Lakeland Community College is canceling all classes and events Thursday night after a threat was made.

Watch video of the press conference with police below.

The Kirtland Police Department said they received a call at 5:45 p.m. about a threat on the main campus.

They said the call came directly to the department and was not a 911 call. Officials said the call came through a web based number and could have originated from anywhere in the world.

The Lakeland Community College Police Department, as well as other local departments, sent out an alert and closed the campus as a precaution.

After an initial sweep of all main campus buildings, there was no evidence to substantiate the threat.

The campus will remain closed Thursday night and will reopen on Friday.

Kirtland, Lakeland, Mentor and Willoughby police departments all responded to the scene.
