PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team was involved in a standoff in Painesville overnight, where a man barricaded himself in a home on West Jackson Street.
The standoff started before 10 p.m. Monday.
According to deputies, they were called to the scene on reports of shots fired.
When they arrived, they found a 56-year-old woman at a neighbor's house with an apparent gunshot wound to her leg.
Deputies said a bullet also struck a neighboring home.
A 63-year-old man, who deputies said was the husband of the victim, went back inside his house.
SWAT negotiators spent five hours at the scene before he surrendered and was taken into custody.
The man was charged with felonious assault.
The victim was flown to UH Hospitals in Cleveland for non-life-threatening injuries.
