COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — One person was killed and four others received life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash Sunday in Columbia Township, located in Lorain County.

State troopers responded at 1:22 p.m. to a call of a serious injury two-vehicle crash on Snell Road.

Troopers said a 2019 Ford Fiesta and a 2017 Honda Accord were located off the side of the road with severe damage from the head-on crash.

The Fiesta was traveling east on Snell Road when it went into the westbound lane in an attempt to pass traffic. It struck the Accord head-on, troopers said.

Both vehicles went off the road, with the Fiesta overturning onto its roof.

One of the occupants in the Fiesta was pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining occupants were all transported to area hospitals for life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Accord, which was the only occupant in the vehicle, was transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
