HUNTINGTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-car crash in Lorain County that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old man from Sullivan, Ohio.
The crash happened around 5:19 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the OSHP Elyria Post, the man was heading south on State Route 58 just south of New London Eastern Road in a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta when he crossed over the center line and was hit by a 2003 Ford Explorer.
The man, later identified as Jacob Blakesslee, of Sullivan, Ohio, was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, OSHP said. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The Ford Explorer's driver, a 16-year-old male, was not injured in the crash, OSHP said. He was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.
Troopers are still investigating but said drugs/alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the crash.
The road was shut down for about three hours while crews worked the scene.
