LORAIN, Ohio — Two Lorain County men are in federal custody after a package of drugs arrived at their home.
Drug Enforcement Administration agents in Phoenix contacted local DEA agents working in the area and made them aware of two suspicious packages that were sent from Arizona to Lorain County via a commercial package delivery corporation.
On July 8, 42-year-old Jamie Guzman was arrested in the 1300 block of West 6th Street after accepting one of the packages.
The package contained 997 grams of crystal methampheatime, 543 grams of cocaine, 176 grams of heroin, 414 suspected fentanyl pills and 3.980 grams of marijuana.
On Friday, 35-year-old John Liston was arrested in Lorain after accepting the other package that was destined for the same home in the 1300 block of West 6th Street.
The package contained 253 grams of cocaine, 100 suspected fentanyl pills and 455 grams of marijuana. It also contained 744 grams of an unknown liquid.
Guzman and Liston are being charged federally under the Operation S.O.S (sudden opiate surge) initiative.
Seventy-one defendants have been indicted under Operation S.O.S. and there has been a 12% decrease in overdose deaths from last year.
Authorities said additional arrests are expected.
