AMHERST TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Two 16-year-old boys and a 27-year-old man were hospitalized after a car crashed into a home in Amherst Township Wednesday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A 2011 Ford Mustang was traveling south on Oberlin Road when it drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a large landscaping boulder, troopers said.
The vehicle rolled, crossed over Middle Ridge Road and drove through a house, striking a man lying in bed.
The 16-year-old driver of the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with incapacitating injuries. A 16-year old passenger was also transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, troopers said.
The 27-year-old man who was lying in bed when the car struck his home was transported to a nearby hospital with incapacitating injuries, according to troopers.
Excessive speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
