ELYRIA, Ohio — A 23-year-old man was killed in a crash that occurred in Lorain County Sunday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Around 11:03 a.m., troopers received a call about a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of North ridge Road and Vermilion Road.

Initial reports indicate that a 2020 Ford F-150 was traveling west on North Ridge Road when it traveled through the intersection at Vermilion Road, struck a guardrail and vaulted off a cliff, troopers said.

Once on scene, troopers found the damaged portion of guardrail and the severely damaged truck on the west bank of the river below, which is part of the Mill Hollow Lorain County Metro Parks.

The driver of the truck, identified as 23-year-old Alec Koutsopoulos, of Vermilion, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to troopers.

The crash remains under investigation.
