LORAIN, Ohio — A 25-year-old man was arrested Monday for the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy that occurred Saturday in Lorain, according to police.
The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Edward Stokes Jr. in Parma early Monday morning, police said.
Around 7:45 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to Oakwood Park after receiving a report of a shooting.
Once on scene, officers found 14-year-old Denzyl Williams near the basketball court area of the park with two gunshot wounds, police said.
Williams was flown that night to Metro Hospital in serious condition. On Sunday, he died from his injuries, according to police.
Lorain police are still actively investigating the shooting and ask that anyone with information regarding the incident call 440-204-2105.
Stokes was charged with murder and may face additional charges along with others who may have hindered the investigation, police said.
