ELYRIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a man died in a snowmobile crash in Elyria Township Monday morning.
At about 12:06 a.m., troopers said Jared Fenik, 35, of Elyria, was traveling on Murray Ridge Road when he drove his snowmobile off the left side of the road and struck a trash receptacle.
Fenik was ejected from his snowmobile and struck a utility pole, troopers said in a news release.
He was taken to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Fenik was wearing a safety helmet. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
