BROWNHELM TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 68-year-old woman from North Ridgeville died in a crash on Monday after a car she was a passenger in struck another vehicle head-on, according to a news release from the Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Shortly before 5 p.m., troopers received a call for an injury crash that happened on Baumhart Road underneath the I-80 overpass in Lorain County.
A 64-year-old man from North Ridgeville was traveling southbound on Baumhart Road in a 2013 Ford Escape, when he traveled left-of-center and struck the Ford dump truck head-on.
Robin Chunnic, 68, of North Ridgeville, who was a passenger in the Ford Escape, died from her injuries in the crash. Troopers said she was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
The 64-year-old man, who was not wearing a seat belt, received serious physical injuries. He was sent via Life Flight to Cleveland Metro Medical Center in critical condition.
The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
Authorities said alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in this crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
