AVON LAKE, Ohio — An Eastview Elementary School student, working towards earning his black belt in karate, collected items for healthcare workers at the Cleveland Clinic - Avon Hospital at Richard E. Jacobs Campus.
Nolan Votruba, 8, needed to complete a community service project in order to earn his black belt so he decided to pay it forward to those on the front lines of COVID-19.
Nolan teamed up with his second-grade teacher at Eastview Elementary School Elyse Sobol and school counselor Amanda Kelber to help collect various items to give to health care workers.
Among the items received were snack bars, sports drinks, bottled water, chocolates, food gift cards and other snacks.
Nolan collected a large supply of items which he will help deliver to the hospital on Monday.
