LORAIN, Ohio — All six branches within the Lorain Public Library System will offer extended hours in 2020, according to a release from Lorain Public Library.

Beginning Jan. 6, all libraries will open at 9 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, an increase from the previous 10 a.m., noon or 2 p.m. opening times.

The branches will also stay open later, with all branches extending closing times to 8 p.m., with Avon and North Ridgeville staying open until 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. All branches will stay open until 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

“We did a survey and found that people really wanted to see morning hours,” Chief Executive Officer Anastasia Diamond-Ortiz said in a news release. “They also wanted Saturday hours that we weren’t offering, and we wanted to be able to have that convenience for patrons.”

Diamond-Ortiz said it’s not uncommon to have cars in the parking waiting for the library to open because they have print something or get access to WiFi for job applications and government forms.
