AVON LAKE, Ohio — The Avon Lake Police Department is reminding residents to lock their vehicles following a spike in car thefts and break-ins.

According to police, most of the incidents occurred on the city’s east side between 2 and 6 a.m. The most recent incident involved a car that was stolen on Monday from a home on Legacy Pointe Parkway.

Most of the vehicles that have had items stolen from were left unlocked. Additionally, most of the vehicles that were reported stolen had keys left inside and were left unlocked, police said.

If you notice anything suspicious, the Avon Lake Police Department asks that you call its non-emergency line at 440-933-4567.
