AVON LAKE, Ohio — A local organization is giving free food to furloughed federal employees to help ease the burden of those affected by the partial government shutdown.
Community Resource Services in Avon Lake is offering to help those employees who are having difficulty making ends meet while the shutdown is ongoing. The organization is offering free food to employees for the length of the shutdown.
According to the company’s website, Community Resource Services was founded in 1988 and provides assistance to the “economically disadvantaged.” The organization is a member agency of the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio.
Any federal worker who wants to participate is asked to bring proof of government employment to the Community Resource Services office located at 33479 Lake Road, Suite C, in Avon Lake.
Office hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The organization can be contacted at 440-933-5639.
