A man whose car was found upside down in the Black River last week is facing several charges after surveillance camera footage showed he pushed it over a cliff, according to Elyria police.
Randall White, of Elyria, has been charged with insurance fraud, inducing panic and making false alarms.
On Oct. 10 at around 12:56 p.m., authorities were called to the 1500 block of West River Road for a car that went over the cliff near the Golden Corral restaurant. Emergency crews repelled down the ravine and determined the car was unoccupied.

When police located the owner, he told them he had parked the car in front of his apartment complex the day before but later discovered it was missing and filed a stolen car report.
During the investigation, police obtained security camera footage of the car going over the cliff. According to authorities, the video showed the owner pushing the car over the edge.
White is currently being held in the Lorain County Jail.
