ELYRIA, Ohio — An Elyria man will spend the next 10 years behind bars for stabbing a woman during an attempted carjacking last year.

Johnny G. Mack III, 40, was sentenced after previously pleading guilty to carjacking, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The incident happened Dec. 12, 2018 in the 900 block of Broad Street.

Authorities say Mack pulled a knife on the woman and stabbed her in the legs, stomach and hands as he pushed her into her car.

The woman fought back and defended herself. Mack left without getting the woman’s car. He was arrested two days later by Elyria police.
