ELYRIA, Ohio — Elyria police are investigating a death after a man was found in the Black River on July 31.
Police responded at around 7:10 p.m. to the Black River shore behind 15 Chestnut Street for a male face down in the water.
Officers located Joseph Francisco, 46, of Elyria, lying on his back in the water. He was found unresponsive, so officers administered CPR. Officers said he had no pulse and was not breathing.
Police said Francisco was bleeding from the left side of his head where he had at least one laceration.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Francisco died at the hospital or at the scene.
