Three teenagers are in custody in connection with a fatal shooting that happened Tuesday night in Elyria after a man with gunshot wounds was driven to the hospital.

Authorities have charged 18-year-old Kajaun J. Anderson and two juveniles — ages 16 and 17 — with aggravated murder.

According to Elyria police, around 8:47 p.m., on Jan. 23, a car pulled up to emergency room door of University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center and a man started yelling for help from inside the vehicle. The driver of the car told police the man had been shot.

When a nearby officer approached the car, he found a man lying in the front passenger seat covered in blood. The officer helped hospital staff load the man onto a gurney and take him inside the hospital. The man died from his wounds a short time later.

The victim was identified as 19-year-old Cody Snyder, of Elyria.

Around 10 minutes prior to the man arriving at the hospital, patrol officers were sent to Clinton Avenue after shots were reportedly fired in the area., authorities said. A resident of the area told police they saw a man running through their backyard toward Bell Avenue nearby.

Detectives announced the arrests Wednesday afternoon.

Anderson is currently being held without bond in the Lorain County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 25.

The two teens are held in the Lorain County Juvenile Detention Home.
