Lorain authorities are investigating the death of a 1-year-old boy after he apparently drowned in his family's pool on Friday morning.
The Lorain County Sheriff's Office responded to the 41490 block of Rosewood Street in Elyria Township shortly before 11 a.m. to a panicked mother who called 911 after discovering her child unresponsive in the family pool.
Antonio Rodriguez went missing from his residence on Rosewood Street for an undetermined time, according to Lorain authorities.
After his mother noticed he was missing, the child was found in the pool under the solar cover. Neighbors responded after hearing the mother scream. They performed CPR on Antonio, according to police.
The Elyria Township Fire Department took the child to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
