An Elyria home is totally destroyed after a fire ripped through it early Sunday morning.
The house at 331 8th Place was abandoned, but the assistant fire chief at the Elyria Fire Department said there were known squatters staying there. However, no injuries were reported.
Firefighters had to do an emergency demolition, because the house was at risk of collapsing, according to the assistant fire chief.
Authorities said the blaze also damaged the house behind it, melting the siding.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Firefighters said they also responded to a car fire down the street about a half an hour before.
