NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio — The North Ridgeville Fire Department was busy hosting a COVID-19 vaccine administration at one of its station’s Saturday.

Individuals hoping to receive the vaccination lined up outside Fire Station No. 1 hoping to get their vaccines.

The station was one of three locations administering the shot Saturday through Lorain County Public Health.

While there were lines of people waiting to get vaccinated, the process is not open to just anybody.

The county is running a notification system in which residents sign up for the vaccination and individuals are notified when they qualify to receive the vaccine.

Right now the county is administering vaccines under the state's Phase 1B plan and those 65 or older, or those with severe congenital, developmental or early-onset medical disorders, are able to sign up for the notification system.

Once a resident is notified they can then stop by one of the three locations during operating hours.

More opportunities to receive a vaccination are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday.
