PENFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A man and woman have died in what appears to be a homicide/suicide in Penfield Township, according to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman’s family members notified the sheriff’s office Monday when they were unable to contact her or her husband at their home.

When deputies arrived at the residence, they found the woman dead from an apparent gunshot wound, authorities said.

The husband was later found in a barn on the couple’s property. It appears that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot, according to the sheriff’s office.

Their names are being withheld until next-of-kin has been notified.
